The Oxnoble is a historic pub & inn Est. 1804. With a wonderful bar and dining area, you are sure to receive a warm welcome. We also have 9 en-suite rooms available for you to stay with us.

Our team of chefs have designed the menu to include hearty British classics.

Serving food 7 days a week, including our legendary home cooked Sunday Roast, there is always something going on at The Oxnoble – from our weekly Monday night quiz.

We are also dog-friendly.

History of The Oxnoble

Established in 1804 , The Oxnoble has been part of Manchester’s heritage for over two centuries — right in the heart of Potato Wharf.

Originally known as The Cooper’s Arms, our pub sat just yards from the Castlefield terminus of the Bridgewater Canal — the first modern canal in Britain. Designed to transport coal , this canal changed the face of industry… and brought a lot of potatoes with it!

The name Potato Wharf comes from the sheer volume of spuds once unloaded here — including the Oxnoble, a humble variety mostly used as cattle feed but famous enough to name a pub after!

So whether you’re here for the history or just a pint in the sun — raise a glass this bank holiday to Manchester’s roots, canals, and… potatoes!
